Method and device for making ceramic flat base tiles and stepped tiles

The tile making process involves extruding the tiles from a ceramic mass. They are then dried, glazed and fired before separating them from each other. The blank (1) is clamped by two narrow sides in the longitudinal direction of the stabilising webs. This leaves free access to the base tile (2). A steady pressure is then exerted on the narrow side of the base plate on the side of the web of the stepped tile (3) until the stabilising webs break at the intended break points. The base tile and the stepped tile are then carried further separately.
