<p>An apparatus for drying poultry droppings is disclosed. The apparatus includes means (2, 4) for mixing fresh excreta with dry excreta; a drying chamber (E) for receiving the resulting mixture (M), the bottom wall (7) of the chamber being both air-pervious and capable of retaining the mixture (M), and consisting of an assembly of adjacent elements each forming an excreta retaining means and comprising means for periodically transferring a layer of dried excreta out of the chamber through said bottom wall; and air blowing means (A) for blowing air into the chamber (E) through said bottom wall (7). Said elements consist of parallel profile sections having a longitudinal web and at least one generally transverse portion, and being pivotable about shafts substantially arranged on a common horizontal plane. Said means are arranged to tilt the profile sections simultaneously between two end positions in which the transverse portion of the web is generally at an angle to a vertical line, such that the sections retain the excreta, via an intermediate position in which the transverse portion of the web is in a generally vertical position in which the excreta can flow between said profile sections.</p> |
