A monitoring system for assisting a person responsible for supervising persons requiring care. The system monitors both the length of time the person spends in any one position, so as to know when to move that person for reasons of comfort, and also when that person moves from that position, in order that they do not leave unsupervised. The system comprises a carer unit (6) and a user unit (3). The carer unit contains an alarm, a receiver and a display (14) for indicating the location of a user unit. The user units (3) comprise a pressure mat (1a, 1b, 1c) and transmitter along with various timing electronics forming part of a control section. Multiple user units may be used each transmitting a different identifying code. |
