摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the insertion of a guide wire into a blood vessel by joining an inner core and an outer layer which are made of synthetic resin, with each other through the intermediary of a reinforcing member made of a metal wire which is formed in a grid-like shape or a spiral shape, so as to enhance the flexibility and the rigidity. SOLUTION: A reinforcing member 3 is laid and joined between a inner core 4 and an outer layer 2 which are made of synthetic resin so as to form a guide wire 1. The reinforcing member 3 is made of a metal wire which is a single wire or a stranded wire and which is braided in a grid-like shape. The wire is dense in the proximal end part 6 thereof, and becomes gradually non-dense toward the front end part 5 of the guide wire. With this arrangement, the rigidity can be held in the proximal end part 6, and the elasticity and the flexibility can be held in the front end part 5. The inner core 4 and the outer layer 2 contains substance such as W or Ba which is excellent in X-ray imaging ability, thereby it is possible to enhance the X-ray imaging ability. Thus, it is possible to enhance the flexibility and the rigidity.
