PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which ink can be saved by suppressing useless purge of an ink jet head. SOLUTION: When a cap 30 is fitted to the housing 20 of a printer at the time of purging an ink jet head 4, a nozzle cover 36 is applied tightly to the nozzle part of the ink jet head 4 which is then evacuated through the nozzle by means of a motor 34. Consequently, residual ink in the nozzle is sucked and the ink jet head 4 is purged and the number of times of purging operation is counted by a counter 40 and indicated. |
