<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous method for producing isocamphylcyclohexanol from a compound having the carbon skeleton of isocamphylguaiacol or isocamphylphenol by hydrogenating thereof with hydrogen using a catalyst. SOLUTION: The method for producing isocamphylcyclohexanol comprises using a substance, capable of acting as a catalyst, present as a compression molding product produced from a metallic powder having 20-250 N compressive strength and 10-90m<2> /g inner surface area without containing a carrier. The metallic powder contains one or more ferrous metals in an amount of 60-100wt.% based on the total weight of the metallic powder, one or more group VIB metals in an amount of 0-15wt.% based on the total weight of the metallic powder and one or more hydrogenating inert elements selected from the group consisting of aluminum, silicon, titanium and carbon in an amount of 0-25wt.% based on the total weight of the metallic powder.</p> |
