An induction heating apparatus comprises a series inductor provided in the way of a power supply bus line connected to an induction heating coil, a magnetic member provided so that said magnetic member can be inserted into and taken out from said inductor, a drive device for driving said magnetic member to be inserted into and taken out from said inductor, and magnetic flux density alleviating means provided in the induction heating coil for alleviating magnetic flux concentrating in an edge portion of a steel plate.
