PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas in which such platinum compound oxide is used that cleaning performance is not deteriorated even in the lean atmosphere at >=1,000 deg.C in particular in relation to the catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas. SOLUTION: A platinum compound oxide is obtained by reacting oxide of one kind or at least two kinds of metal selected from base metal and transition metal of a third period and a fourth period in the periodic table with platinum. The platinum oxide is formed as a solid solution in platinum compound oxide. Further, in the platinum compound oxide, the compound oxide consists of platinum and one kind or at least two kinds selected from Fe, Ga, Ge, Sn, Ti, V, Cr, Mn and Ru. Platinum not more than 10wt.% is dissolved in a state of platinum oxide in the platinum compound oxide. Furthermore, a carrier consisting of oxide is mixed with a compound oxide. |
