PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the elution of Pd when regulating the oxygen concentration and produce the subject compound by using acetic acid containing a specific compound therein as a raw material when reacting butadiene with the acetic acid and O2 in the presence of a Pd-based catalyst. SOLUTION: Acetic acid, molecular oxygen and butadiene are fed in the order to a reactor when initiating a reaction and acetoxybutenes are present in the reactor when feeding the oxygen thereto. 1-Acetoxy-3-butene and its isomer, etc., are cited as the acetoxybutenes to be present in the reactor and at least one kind of acetoxybutene thereof may be present. The molar amount of the added acetoxybutenes is within the range of preferably 1×10<-5> to 0.15, preferably 0.001-0.06, more preferably 0.0025-0.025 based on the acetic acid. Since the deterioration in catalyst activitites is suppressed by using the method, the catalyst can be used for a long period. |
