PREPARATION METHOD OF URSODEOXY CHOLIC ACID

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as a cholagogue in high purity and high yield by subjecting 3-hydroxy-7-ketocholanic acid or 3-hydroxy-7- keto-11-choleic acid in the presence of a base using a palladium based catalyst. CONSTITUTION:3-Hydroxy-7-ketocholanic acid or 3-hydroxy-7-keto-11-choleic acid which is a raw material is subjected to catalytic hydrogenation, preferably in the presence of a base (used at an amount of 0.5-3 equivalent based on 1 equivalent of the above-mentioned raw material) such as alkali metal alcoholate, preferably using a palladium-carbon catalyst (used at an amount of 0.01-50weight% as metal content based on the above-mentioned raw material) in a solvent (used at same amount as the above-mentioned raw material to amount corresponding to 100 times the above-mentioned raw material) such as water, ethanol or hexane in 1-300kg/cm<2> pressure at 20-200 deg.C to provide the aimed compound.
