PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a exhaust gas cleaning device at a low cost by which harmful components contained in exhaust gas are efficiently reduced by connecting the purification device to the exhaust pipe or the feed pipe of a gasoline-powered vehicle or a diesel-powered vehicle. SOLUTION: A cartridge 8 is constituted so as to be inserted and taken out into/from an outer cylinder made of metal by forming the cartridge 8 in the inside of a cylinder consisting of an electrical insulator. The cartridge 8 is provided with a plurality of wire gauzes 7 (7a-7d) while holding necessary intervals so as to be decomposed and assembled through spaces 14 (14a-14d) electrically connected to power source objects 15 generating faint current. Further, the wire gauze 7a nearest to a connection part 2 is positioned in the place through which harmful gas accompanied by smoke and soot is firstly passed. The wire gauze 7a is exposed to the severe conditions and therefore regulated to 50 meshes of large mesh and other wire gauzes 7b, 7c and 7d are regulated to 100 meshes.
