PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition useful for cosmetic, etc., excellent in retaining force, having no color transfer, capable of forming a coated film not to make a spot on the substrate body, comprising a specific polymer. SOLUTION: This composition uses a copolymer which comprises a monoolefinic 3-6C carboxylic acid monomer or its acid anhydride as a fraction in a large amount and an acrylic acid fatty chain ester monomer as a fraction in a small amount and may be cross-linked. The amount of the copolymer present is 0.01-3wt.% based on the total amount of the composition. Preferably, the composition contains one of a poly(2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane-sulfonic acid) polymer which is cross-linked and at least 90% neutralized and/or an acrylic acid homopolymer, its copolymer or its salt which may be cross-linked.
