PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high selectivity by reacting hexafluoropropene oxide with a carbonyl fluoride in a polar aprotic solvent in the presence of an alkylene urea compound catalyst in a gas-absorption tower using a gas-liquid contact process. CONSTITUTION:Perfluoro(2-methoxypropionic acid)fluoride is produced by the gas-liquid contact process of hexafluoropropene oxide and a carbonyl fluoride in a gas-absorption tower in a polar aprotic solvent (e.g. diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) in the presence of a catalyst consisting of an alkylene urea compound of formula (R1 and R2 are lower alkyl; n is 2 or 3) (e.g. 1,3-dimethyl-2- imidazolidinone). The process is advantageous because a material containing hexafluoropropene can be used as the hexafluoropropene oxide and the carbonyl fluoride may contain CO2. The catalyst is available at a low cost and the used reaction system containing the catalyst can be reused. |
