PURPOSE:To impart an excellent ability to improve the abrasion resistance of a sliding part by incorporating a halogenated iron compound, in combination with an extreme-pressure additive comprising a phosphorus compound, into a lube base oil in a lubricating oil for a compression refrigerator using a non- chlorinated refrigerant comprising a hydrofluorocarbon. CONSTITUTION:A lube base oil (e.g. polyalkylene glycol) is mixed with additives comprising a halogenated iron compound (e.g. FeCl3) and an extreme-pressure additive comprising a phosphorus compound (e.g. phosphoric ester) to produce a lubricating oil. This oil is used in combination with a non-chlorinated refrigerant comprising a hydrofluorocarbon (e.g. tetrafluoroethane) for a compression refrigerator. When the lubricating oil falls under extreme-pressure conditions, the halogenated iron compound added to the lube base oil reacts with the sliding member of a refrigerator to form a chloride on the sliding surface, and due to a combined effect with the extreme-pressure additive which forms iron phosphate, the lubricating oil exhibits an ability to reduce the wear of the sliding part. |
