APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING A TEMPERATURE USING OPTICAL FIBER

<p>An apparatus for measuring a temperature comprises: an optical fiber (11) covered with a metallic tube; a nozzle (20) used for temperature measurement installed in a furnace (40) containing a high temperature liquid; a gas supply device (30) for supplying gas to prevent the nozzle from clogging; an optical fiber feed device (12, 13, 14) for sending out an end of the metal-covered optical fiber (11) into the liquid through the nozzle (20); and a radiation thermometer (17) for determining a temperature of the liquid from a spectral light transferred through an inside of the metal-covered optical fiber (11). And further, a method for measuring a temperature comprises the steps of: preparing an optical fiber (11) covered with a metallic tube; sending out the metal-covered optical fiber (11) into a high temperature liquid through a nozzle (20) used for temperature measurement installed in a furnace (40) containing the liquid; supplying gas into an inside of the nozzle (20) to prevent the nozzle (20) from clogging; and determining a temperature of the liquid from a spectral light transferred into the metal-covered optical fiber (11). <IMAGE></p>
