PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a shift action up to the completion of engaging speedily by preventing any drop in idling speed so as to have an amount of discharge ranging from a hydraulic supplying means to a frictional engaging means secured by the increased second idling speed till this frictional engaging means of an automatic transmission is completely engaged. SOLUTION: An automatic transmission 10 is equipped with a frictional engaging means 100 inclusing a clutch and a brake or the like in the multistage shift mechanism. The frictional engaging means 100 including these elements is driven by a hydraulic pump installed in the automatic transmission 10. The frictional engaging means 100 of this automatic transmission 10 is driven by a high idling speed or a second idling speed in order to speedily operate it, whereby the hydraulic pump in this automatic transmission 10 is always able to secure the specified flow rate necessary for an engaging action of the frictional engaging means 100. In addition, such a fact that the idling speed goes down is prevented before the engagement of the frictional engaging means 100 is completed. Thus, a span of time up to the engaging completion is shortened, therefore a shift action is speedily carried out. |
