PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. crystal aligning agent which exhibits a high pretilt angle and gives a liq. crystal display element excellent in stability by using a polyamide contg. a specific chemical structure as the resin component. SOLUTION: This agent contains a polyamide contg. a chemical structure represented by the formula as the resin component. The polyamide can be obtd. by reacting 1,4-bis(3-aminopropyldimethylsilyl)benzene with a dicarboxlic acid or its chloride in a polar solvent. The polyamide may be produced by using a diamine other than 1,4-bis(3-aminopropyldimethylsilyl)benzene as far as the effect of the structure represented by the formula is not damaged. |
