Disclosed is a end sensing control device for a VCR including a voltage supply portion, an end sensor, a tape residual quantity computation portion, and a supply voltage control portion. The voltage supply portion supplies a supply voltage to all the portions. The end sensor receives the supply voltage from the voltage supply portion and detects the start point and end point of the tape. The tape residual quantity computation portion computes the residual quantity of the tape. The supply voltage control portion make the supply voltage be supplied to the end sensor from the voltage supply portion on at the first point and the end point of the tape by judging the output value of the tape residual quantity computation portion. Thus, the power consumption is reduced and misoperation is prevented.
