Disclosed is a magnetic record and play-back device. The device includes a first through fourth image heads. The first image head and the third image head control a first signal. The second image head and the fourth image head control a second signal. A first complex image head consists of the first and second image heads. A second complex image head consists of the third and fourth image heads. The first complex image head has an opposit angle of 180 deg. to the second complex image head. The first and the second image heads are attached to a rotary drum. The first and the second image heads are in opposite direction and form an azimus angle. the second and the fourth image heads are in opposite direction and form an azimus angle. Each head of a complex image head forms the sum of two track widths in the same time. The sum of two track widths is set less than a track pitch and thereby forms a guard band between adjacent tracks formed to the identical azimus angle. Thus, Two image signals different each other are simultaneously recorded and played back on a tape.
