A piezoelectric trigger for a synthesizer of the type shown in U.S. Patent No. 5,434,350 is disclosed. The trigger maximizes the sensitivity of the piezoelectric transducer contained in the trigger, and makes the entire surface of the trigger cap responsive and equally sensitive to touch. The trigger includes a block of resilient material, a planar cushioning layer resting on the outer surface of the block, a planar piezoelectric transducer resting on the cushioning layer, an electrical lead extending from the transducer between the cushioning layer and the block, and through an opening in the block, and a covering cap extending over the transducer and down along at least a portion of the side surface of the block. |
