Socket and header electrical connector assembly

A connector assembly for electrically connecting an electronic apparatus to a printed circuit board includes a matable socket connector (10) and header connector (12). The socket connector includes a lower housing (14) which supports the electronic apparatus (65) and which is capable of containing an insulative curable potting compound (56). A plurality of electrical contacts (22) is supported by the lower housing in electrical engagement with the electronic apparatus (34). A cover (16) is supportable over the lower housing (14) for enclosing the housing. The electronic apparatus (34) is supported within the socket connector (10) in position so that the curable potting compound (56) may completely surround the electronic apparatus providing an environmental seal. The socket connector (10) is insertable into the header connector (12) supported on the printed circuit to establish electrical connection therebetween. <IMAGE>
