PURPOSE:To provide not only a microcapsule excellent in solvent resistance, heat resistance and pressure resistance but also a pressure-sensitive or thermal recording material excellent in solvent resistance, heat resistance and pressure resistance using said microcapsule. CONSTITUTION:A microcapsule is composed of a polyurethane and/or polyurea wall and the periphery thereof is protected and reinforced by a film formed by crosslinking polyvinyl alcohol having a styrylpyridinium group introduced into its pendant. Since the microcapsule is excellent in solvent resistance, heat resistance and pressure resistance because the wall thereof is protected and reinforced by the crosslinked film of polyvinyl alcohol having a styrylpyridinium group intorudced into its pendant, a pressure-sensitive or thermal recording material using this microcapsule is extremely excellent in solvent resistance, heat resistance and pressure resistance as compared with a conventional pressure-sensitive or thermal recording material. |
