Manufacture of a covering body comprises (a) producing a covering body of a crosslinkable polymeric material on a supporting element, the body having a first external profile including the envelope of the predetermined profile; (b) vulcanising the body; and (c) creating the predetermined profile on the external surface of the body by means of a removal operation of portions of the material. Also claimed are (A) a monolithic covering of vulcanised polymer material comprising a central body and a number of frusto-conical sheds created on it, characterised by the fact that the internal conical surface of at least one shed forms an angle of less than 80[deg] with the central body; and (B) a covering where the external conical surface of at least one fin forms an angle greater than 110[deg] with the central body.
