The wiper comprises a wiper arm (10) whose front end carries a wiper blade and whose rear end is articulated about an axis (Y-Y) on a driving head. A deformable elastic block (52) arranged between the head and wiper arm applies a force a force on the arm whose straight line support (D) is not concurrent with the articulation axis. This causes a couple to be applied to the wiper arm. The elastic block is partly housed in a housing (54) in the driving head located behind the articulation axis. It is compressed between a support surface (58) in the housing and a force application surface (62) on the wiper arm.
