The disc player includes a disc insertion slot (9), through which a disc (6) is inserted, which is held on a turntable (5) for reading of data with an optical sensor (7). The disc can be released from the turntable and can be brought back to the exterior through the disc insertion slot. A disc holder (13) for transporting of the disc, holds the outer edge of the disc. The operation of the disc holder and a clamp mechanism (31) is controlled through a control mechanism (57) which is driven through an individual motor (43). The control mechanism comprises a partial cog (48). The operation of the different steps is controlled through selective use of a section of the partial cog with teeth, and a section without teeth. Different parts of the arrangement are reversible operated, when the disc is loaded and unloaded.
