PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF OXIDIZED POLYETHYLENE WAX

The product, prepared according to this method, is applicable in the chemical industry. The method increases the viscosity of melted wax, broadens its field of application and simplifies the technology. The polyethylene wax is oxidised with m.m. 500-700 in the presence of boric acid in a quantity equal to 1.4-2.5 per cent of the wax mass. In the beginning, only 0.3-1.0 per cent of the acid is added and after reaching an acid number of 10-60 mg KOH/g, acid in a quantity of 1.0-2.0 per cent of the wax mass is added.
