Manganese di:oxide electrode containing coated inorganic particles

A manganese dioxide electrode, containing coated inorganic particles, is new. Preferably, the particles are mica, SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2 or ZnO particles with one or more coating layers of dielectric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric or pyroelectric substances. Also claimed is production of the above electrode by (a) homogenising manganese dioxide powder with an inorganic powder consisting of coated inorganic particles, preferably by grinding; (b) optionally mixing with an organic or inorganic binder and a conductivity additive, preferably graphite; and (c) manufacturing an electrode from the product, preferably by compacting optionally between two substrate materials and optionally heat treating.
