<p>A shoe treatment apparatus, e.g. a heat setting apparatus, has one or more channels along which shoes to be treated are conveyed past treatment means, e.g. nozzles providing jets of heated and, if desired, moisturised, air. The or each channel is closed by two inflatable elongated bags (50) having downwardly depending extensions (60;60') for co-operating in closing the entry and exit ends (A,B) of each channel. Associated with the extensions are deflector elements (70,72) which prevent shoes from catching or snagging on the extensions of the bags as they pass into and out of the channels. In one embodiment the deflector elements (70,72) comprise strips of a woven or non-woven sheet material which is flexible and stiffly resilient, i.e. not deformable locally, and which has a low-friction surface. In another embodiment the deflector elements (170) comprise brushes arranged at an angle in the order of 45{ to the path of travel of the shoes.</p> |
