The planting aid comprises a set of at least two templates (1) which are formed by frames (5) and can be set on the ground, each template having an opening (2) through which the plants are inserted in the ground. The edges of the templates can be placed against each other so as to form the required decorative shape. The lengths of the straight edges of different templates may be the same and one template may be inserted within another template. The edges of the templates may be fitted together through interlocking elements.
