The device includes a Helmholtz resonator with resonance volume (50) of which at least one wall is formed as a mechanical spring (54). Mechanical masses (53) are mounted at least one vibrating wall of the resonance volume. The spring system has a higher inherent frequency than a rigid non-spring Helmholtz resonator with same volume. The spring is a resilient bellows element. In the case of cylindrical resonance volumes the spring is made from a number of gas-tight connected plate springs (54e).
