Sludge-flocculant test mixture chamber with smooth circular walls

An assembly is claimed for mixing sludge and a flocculant (A)and measuring the products. The mixing and measuring chamber is limited by a wall with a fixed measuring device directed at two opposite faces of the chamber within which a mixer paddle rotates. The chamber has a first lower inlet (5) for fresh sludge, a second inlet for (A), and an upper fluid outlet (6) which discharges to a drain pipe unprotected by a valve. A computer (8) control delivers a pressurised supply of sludge and (A) to the chamber in which they are mixed and from which they are then discharged. The novelty is that the chamber wall forms a shallow can with two discs (2) and a ring wall (3). The measuring unit (7) projects only slightly beyond the inner side of the chamber wall. The mixer paddle (10) has a disc can (2) at the centre of its axis of rotation (9). The mixture of sludge which has been measured is expelled (6) by the pressurised ingress of more sludge (5) and (A) and the simultaneous rotation of the paddle (10) assembly.
