This invention relates to additive of a electroplating solution to improve surface roughness, surface color and surface microstructure of Zn-Fe alloy electroplated steel sheet. The additive consists of: polyethylene glycol (H(OCH2CH2)nOH) aqueous solution whose concentration is 10-15% by weight and which is obtained by mixing at least each one of polyethylene glycol (n=10-20) and one of polyethylene glycol (n=20-30); 0.1-5.0% and 1.0-10.0% by weight of said solution of a aromatic acid and formaldehyde, respectively. The electroplating solution is obtained by adding 0.5-8.0 ml/L of said additive.
