Start-up process for evaporator in e.g. production of vinyl chloride

During the start-up phase of a chemical process, e.g. vinyl chloride vapours are generated by an evaporator assembly and in prior art are then mechanically compressed by a supplementary evaporator assembly. The novelty is that the gaseous phase is repeatedly circulated through a compressor and is heated by a heat exchanger, until the associated assembly has heated up to process temperature.
