A fuel injection nozzle has a nozzle holder (1), a nozzle body (3) with openings (35) at its point and an axially sliding needle valve (3) to permit injection when fuel pressure is induced to work on a surface at the point. The nozzle holder is provided with a mechanism for direct measurement of the injection quantity, containing a turbine (6) that can rotate so that vanes project into a fuel passage (60). A passage of an 'optical axis' that puts itself in one position of the turbine's centre of rotation, is located so as to be intersecting with the vanes and is interrupted by the vanes when the turbine is rotated by the fuel flow. An optical system inputs and outputs a light beam to and from the passage and is connected with the injection control system.
