The platform is designed to accept a motor vehicle, and has a surface (15) which is curved upwards in the direction in which it is driven over. The curvature may be continuous over the whole length of the surface. The radius of curvature of the surface is between 4 m and 8 m. The curved surface may project from 2 cm to 10 cm above a flat surface, which is fixed to the end edges of the curved surface. The curved surface may have longitudinal grooves, which may each have a dove-tailed cross sectional shape. The curved surface may be formed from a sheet material, which may be profiled in order to form the longitudinal grooves.
