The capacity of the container (8,19) is variable, being composed of adjustable and relatively arrestable parts (8,10) and with an opening (7) at the sharpener end. Once positioned, the two parts (8,10) lock positively together and the two parts either telescope together or screw into one another. The two parts comprise a neck part (8) and base (10), one being deformable and one made of elastic plastics. One part (8 or 10) is transparent and preferably the base grasps round the neck. The sharpener hole (6) can be closed off by a stopper (15) joined by band (16) to the sharpener (1), and the band is integrally joined to the sharpener housing (2) on the one side and to the stopper (15) on the other. A clip (17) fastened to the neck part points with its gripper spur (18) towards the base, and the sharpener should be permanently joined to the neck part.
