The castor has a support part swivelling about a vertically mounted bolt and supporting a wheel. A blocking device formed by a leaf spring (23) can be operated by a foot-operated lever (21a). An additional operating lever (21b) acts on the leaf spring to move the brake arm (32b) serving as the swivel fixing member into a position fixing the direction of the castor. The brake arm in dependence on which operating lever acts on the leaf spring is either moved in the x-direction and engages as a swivel fixing member in a first cog set on the bolt (36) or in the y-direction engaging as a direction fixing member in a second cog.
