Device and method for ink transfer

The method involves transferring ink from an intermediate medium (30), to which the ink adheres in granular form, onto a further intermediate medium (31) or substrate (34). The ink is melted onto the intermediate medium from the remote side of the medium before transfer to the further intermediate medium. Where the ink adheres to the intermediate medium in an at least partially liquid state, its adhesion to the intermediate medium is reduced by a separating agent before and/or during its transfer from the intermediate medium to the further intermediate medium or substrate.
