PURPOSE:To generate a musical sound close to that of acoustic hi-hat cymbals by controlling the timbre and envelope of the musical sound to be generated according to operation on an operation element such as a foot pedal. CONSTITUTION:The operation on the foot pedal 22 is detected by a variable resistor which varies in resistance value with the position of the foot pedal 22. A CPU 14 is supplied with a signal based upon the percussion of a hi-hat cymbal pad 26 and a signal based upon the position of the foot pedal 22. The CPU 14 calculates the timbre and envelope of the musical sound to be generated with the supplied signals and indicates sound generation to a sounding controller 16. Consequently, an envelope which is long in decay like open hi-hat cymbals is obtained unless the foot pedal 22 is stepped in. As the pedal 22 is stepped in, the decay becomes shorter. When the pedal 22 is completely stepped in, a short-decay envelope of closed hi-hat cymbals is obtained. |
