The conveyor has drive, guide and tension rollers and a pair of deflection axles set at an angle to the conveyor direction. Each deflection axle (10,11) comprises several rows of rolling bearings (12) arranged star-shaped round the axle centre. These rolling bearings support the conveyor belt (2) and in turn are mounted in parallel rods (14) set in the axle longitudinal direction and connected together at their ends like a cage. The cage-like bearing support formed from these connected rods is mounted as one structural unit with the rolling bearings rotatable about its longitudinal axis (13). The ends of the rods can be screwed with ring or disc like closure elements (15,16) supporting the outwardly pointing trunnions (18,19).
