The non-upright cans are passed from the production line to the transport device via a vertical or inclined plate which has zones of different incline and at least three horizontal offset rows of fixed and if required movable spikes (3). The distance between the adjoining spikes corresponds at least to the length of the containers. The vertical spacing corresponds to more than the length of the containers. The transport device is located beneath the last row. At least one part of the spikes is pref. coated with an elastic material to reduce the impact shocks. One or more areas of the plate can be inclined to brake the fall speed of the containers. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplified handling of containers with good results and fewer faulty aligned containers.
