Treatment of condensate in air compressor units and esp. transportable compressors - with condensate absorbed into cylindrical or flat filter elements and water evaporated by air heated by passing over compressor housing

A compressor unit has a compressor (13) and a condensate filter (14) which separates water and oil from the compressed gas. The novel feature is that a filter (16) containing a filtration material (2) is arranged so that an air stream (3) which has been heated by passing over the compressor evaporates the water in the filtrate from the condensate filter (14). Pref the filter material consists (2) of a number of parallel filter elements (4) located approximately perpendicular to the air flow (3). These elements are held at a required distance from each other by a support consisting of one or more perforated plates. The elements are made up of spirally wound filter material surrounding hollow central spaces. USE/ADVANTAGE - In air compressors, and especially transportable compressor units such as are used for supplying air for divers. The oil/water condensate separated from the compressed air is treated in such a way that it can be disposed of more easily and with less risk of damage to the environment.
