A cycllc nltrone of the formula: in which R1 and R2 are each independently represented by a C 1-3 alkyl or R1 and R2 together form a C2-7 alkylene chain; n is represented by an integer from 0-2; and R is represented by a substituent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, -CF3, -0CF3 and -OH and their use as spin trapping agents and interleukin-1 inhibitor.
