APPARATUS FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING PROCESS BETWEEN TWO ROLLS

An installation is for the continuous casting of liq. metal between two rolls (1,2) with parallel axes defining a casting space between the rolls and two fixed lateral walls (3). Each lateral wall incorporates at least one lateral component (6), placed against the front plane surface at the end of one of the rolls, made up of a portion of a disc with an outer dia. equal to that of the adjacent roll and a central component (12) made from an insulating refractory material placed in relation to the casting space. The disc component is made in a material with thermal conductivity and mechanical resistance characteristics that are superior to those of the refractory material used for the central component. The disc has a truncated form with the portion with the greater radius of curvature being sited towards the roll and the truncated surface in contact with the insulating refractory material of the central component.
