PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the symmetricalness of the reproduced output of a spin valve magneto-resistive head. SOLUTION: This spin valve magneto-resistive head has a free magnetic layer 3 which consists of a soft magnetic material, a nonmagnetic intermediate layer 4 which overlaps on this free magnetic layer 3 and a stationary magnetic layer 5 which overlaps on this nonmagnetic intermediate layer 4 and consists of a soft magnetic material. The anglesθf,θp of the magnetization M01 of the free magnetic layer 3 and the magnetization N2 of the stationary magnetic layer 5, respectively, to a track core width direction D of the head described above are so set that a resistance-magnetic field curve is made linear.
