PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a purifying catalyst capable of effectively purifying and decomposing NOx, high in purifying performance for NOx and suitable for practical use even in exhaust gas containing a large amt. of water and/or oxygen such as the exhaust gas from a diesel engine or a lean-burn engine. SOLUTION: This production method includes the following processes. In a first process, a mordenite powder is mixed with an aq. soln. of Co salt such as cobalt acetate and cobalt nitrate (or an aq. soln. of Ag salt) and dried into a powder state. In a second process, the product from the first process is mixed with Ag salt soln. such as silver nitrate (or Co salt soln.) and dried into a powder state. In a third process, the product from the second process is calcined to disperse and deposit Ag ion or its oxide and Co ion or its oxide in the mordenite structure. |
