<p>PURPOSE:To directly measure the position of solidification boundary during refining molten aluminum. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal M incorporated in a refining vessel 10 cooled by a cooling body 14 while stirring with a stirrer 20, and alpha-Al is grown as a solidified body S. At that time, stirrer 20 is periodically descended by a motor 25 for moving up and down, and it is detected by the variation of electric current in a motor 23 for rotation that the stirrer 20 approaches the solidified body S and the rotation of the stirrer 20 is stopped at the point of time when the variation of the current is detected. Further, the stirrer 20 is descended and brought into contact with the surface of the solidified body S, and it is detected that the stirrer 20 is brought into contact with the solidified body S by the variation of the current in the motor 25 for lifting. The position of the solidified interference I is calculated from the descended quantity of the stirrer 20 during this term. The position of the detected solidification boundary I is used to the control of the operational condition of solidification speed, etc., as the high reliable control factor.</p> |
