PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq. crystal alignment material which aligns a liq. crystal well and enables a high pretilt angle to be obtd. by using a polyimide precursor having a specific chemical structure as the resin component. SOLUTION: This material contains a polyimide precursor having a chemical structure represented by the formula as the resin component. Pref. the precursor is a polyamic acid or a polyamic ester. The precursor is obtd. by reacting 1,4-bis(3-aminopropyldimethylsilyl)benzene with a tetracarboxylic dianhydride, etc., in a polar solvent. When a tetracarboxylic dianhydride is used, a polyamic acid is obtd. A polyamic ester is obtd. by esterifying the polyamic acid or by conducting the reaction by using a tetracarboxylic diester. |
