PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form images on a base material by using a small quantity of printing medium. SOLUTION: Dead zones to which media are not given are formed divisionally next to and inside a solid boundary 14, halftone patterns 12 are printed next to and inside the dead zones. A data processing means includes a solid boundary controller which adjusts the width of the solid boundary 14 corresponding to the periphery of an image 10 and generates solid boundary parameters and also includes a dead zone controller which adjusts the width of the dead zone next to and inside the solid boundary 14 and generates dead zone parameters. The data processing means includes also a halftone pattern controller which adjusts the shape and the density of the halftone pattern 12 to be printed next to or inside the dead zone, and generates halftone parameters.
