PURPOSE:To precisely and surely detect the prescribed residual quantity of developer by a simple and inexpensive device. CONSTITUTION:In a developer container 24 provided with a turning member 25 stirring or carrying the housed developer 12 because it is turned around a horizontal shaft line 38, a movable electrode 28 which can be independently turned around the axial line 38 and which is provided with a downward moving inclination toward a lower dead point position by the gravity and turned together with the turning member 25 by being pressed by one part of the turning member 25 and a fixed electrode 27 positioned on the bottom surface of the container 211 and brought into contact with the electrode 28 positioned within a prescribed downward moving range are provided. Besides, a discrimination means 29 detecting the prescribed residual quantity of the developer 12 based on the difference of a contact time between the electrodes 28 and 27 is provided.
